- Golden Milk Drink -
Turmeric is anti-inflammatory, fights cancer, is known for control of body sugars (Glucose in particular), treats bowel conditions, purifies your liver, improves digestion, shrinks cholesterol, and augments your immune system. It has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries and has become quite popular today, for its many health giving properties.
I like it as a coffee substitute and has a delicious aroma and taste!
The little known secret is......For MAXIMUM benefit it must be heated for approx 8 mins, have a fat content, plus black pepper added.
First make your turmeric concentrate
1/4 Cup Powdered Turmeric
1 Cup Water
Bring the water and powder to the boil, reduce heat and allow to simmer for approx 8 minutes, then add in the following.
1 teaspoon ground Black Pepper
2 Teaspoons Organic Coconut Oil
2 drops of Frankincense, 1 drop Cardamom, 1 drop Black Pepper
& 1 drop Ginger - I choose dōTERRA only for their purity and potency.
The mixture will thicken and form a paste.
(This will store in the fridge for a couple of months, it can also be used in curries, soups, broths and anything really you want to add Turmeric to)
For 2 Servings you will need:
2 Cups Milk or I prefer Oat milk but you can use dairy free nut milks too (Almond, Cashew, Macadamia)
1 Teaspoon Honey or Maple
1-2 teaspoons of the concentrate paste
Whisk in a saucepan until ready to serve.
Added ingredients I sometimes use to really make the Golden Milk potently medicinal are - Bee pollen to the top, medicinal mushrooms (either powdered or in liquid form) and liquid echinacea.
