Musings on living abroad

The comfort of security and familiarity - my experience and musings living in another country and WHY you must do it if you can!

With having lived in the same country for all of my life, fortunately having travelled regularly through the years to multiple countries and far off places, up to a few months at a time, but never any longer than that.

Having the dream to live in another country was always a big vision and want in my life, to really have that cultural immersion experience.

So fast forward to the present, living the past 7 months in Italy, has been wonderful to say the least, but touching on the energy of attachment and detachment, it’s been a powerful thing to witness and release.

Without complaint or regrets, never for a second, but it is an adjustment especially coming from old patterns of security, familiarity and a small town mentality way of living.

There are times when you miss certain things that you are so used to just reaching for, but without having that thing, or item of clothing, or space you are used to, pillow etc, you soon adapt and get used to a more minimalist way of living…which is great!

Staying in other beds, showering in another bathroom, cooking in another tiny kitchen, learning to speak and communicate in another language, working our business here and in Australia, building new relationships with new people and making new friends, sharing small spaces with people, all make for interesting adjustments and it can sometimes challenge you and make you feel uncomfortable, so you adapt and adjust and it’s again such a liberating feeling.

So if you want to get out of your comfort zone, spend some time in another country, it just rewards you in so so many ways.

Let's get started!
